What is an opal doublet?
A doublet refers to 2 pieces of gem material fused together with jeweler’s adhesive. A thin slice of opal is fused with a darker material and this enhances the color of the opal to become more vivid and intense.
- Due to the nature of doublets it is not advised to immerse these in water for prolonged periods as this could cause lifting between the layers. Please refrain from wearing your opal doublet pieces when working with water to avoid moisture penetration (hand wash, swimming, shower etc.)
